This lecture, originally delivered as a webinar, introduces myopia and explains the increasing prevalence of myopia in children in western countries. It reviews the prevalence and possible causes of myopia as a disease, looking at the increased risk of ocular pathology with increasing myopia.
Nick Dash introduces the concept of myopia control therapy and uses peer-reviewed research to highlight the relative successes and limitations of therapy using Soft and Ortho-K contact lenses, spectacle lenses, pharmaceutical products and lifestyle advice.
